Future City Competition Mentors

Future City LogoAre you an engineer looking for a rewarding volunteering opportunity?  Would you or someone you know be willing to help a small group of middle school students (3-5) in the Future City competition?

Engineers & Scientists of Milwaukee (ESM) serves as the Regional Coordinator for the Wisconsin Future City Competition which will be held at MSOE's Kern Center on Saturday, January 23, 2010.  Many schools across Wisconsin participate in this exciting and relevant program.  We are looking for engineering mentors to help guide these students through the competition

As a mentor you will:ESM Banner

  • Meet with your students a couple times a month and then more frequently as the competition gets closer
  • Provide resources options to conduct research
  • Share your skills and knowledge as an engineer
  • Attend the competition with the team
What is provided:
  • A mentor handbook
  • A past mentor and regional coordinator as a resource
  • A teacher who will help with the students
  • A group of excited students who are willing to work hard and learn

ESM BannerThis year's challenge is all about designing affordable housing for those most in need while adhering to LEED recognized green building standards and remaining energy efficient with a low carbon footprint.  It's sure to be an exciting competition and we hope that you'll take part!
